Study-Integrated Courses
International students who do not speak German as their native language can improve and consolidate their German during their studies by taking advantage of special courses run by the Language Centre.
Two-hour courses on different topics are offered once a week every semester. 2.5 ECTS credit points are awarded for each successfully completed course.
There is an exam at the end of each of the different courses (currently: Language Workshop, Writing Workshop, Phonetics and Grammar).
General language courses (A1-B2)
After taking a placement test, international students (exchange students, Master's EIT and other international students) at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences can attend German courses at different levels (A1-B2).
The Language Centre offers three-week intensive courses which run daily in March and September each year. These are scheduled before the start of the lecture period. They also constitute part of the orientation programme.
Extensive courses take place twice a week during the semester.
After successfully completing the course, students receive a certificate (Transcript of Record) indicating the language level and grade ⇒ Contact
International students from degree programmes taught in English (MBA, computer science, etc.) can also take part in the courses. Please contact your department to find out whether it will award you ECTS credit points for this course. Some degree programmes (e.g. MBA) award 4 ECTS points per course, whereas other subject areas (media, etc.) award none.
